Excerpt: Don’t forget to listen to your little voices

Excerpt from Smart magazine column

Don’t forget to listen to your little voices

I hear it. I know you can’t. I wish you could.
It’s that little voice inside of me that tells me I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to do. Funny how something so quiet can speak so loudly. But it does.
I even hear it when I’m sleeping. It comes to me in the quiet of the night, slipping into my dreams, nudging me on. I feel it with every part of my being. It’s how I know that I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to do.
When I was a teen, I thought I had life all figured out. But the older I get, the more I realize how little I knew. Decades later, I’m still learning and growing and figuring life out.
There is one thing I have figured out, though, one thing I’m certain of. Each of us has a gift, a talent. You just have to find yours.

Latest Smart magazine column

Some of the best moments in life are those you never see coming.

Friends you didn’t expect to see.

My respect for her deepened that day, as her sincerity was apparent. She really cared about what I thought.
Imagine, a teacher asking me for advice. Wow. That was a new one.
I remember telling her..

Why do guys (sometimes) lie?

Why do guys always say what they think we want to hear and not what they really think?
For example, if I asked Hubs if I’m fat, he’ll say no. But I know that he really thinks: Well, you are getting a little porky around the middle but I’m not going to say anything or you’ll be mad and I won’t get any love forever and ever!

My latest column

Here's my Smart magazine column. ENJOY!
My second home is the grocery store. Seriously, I’m there practically every day. It seems that I can’t keep enough cereal, milk and yogurt in the house.
Oh, and bananas!
Just ask Hubs, who doubles over when he sees the grocery bills. But, hey, with two sons packing lunches every day, I’m giving that store scanner something to beep about.
I remember when a box of cereal used to last a week. Now, maybe a day.
