The Lion Awakens is on shelves!

The Lion Awakens is now available

I'm super happy to announce that "The Lion Awakens" has been published. *Happy Dance*

Here's the blurb

Two worlds, two teens, two destinies...

For thirteen years, Annie Lange and David McClure believed their parents were killed in fiery car crashes. They learn the truth about the past when they find hidden messages in anonymous gifts left on their front porches. The notes lead them to a mentor who helps them discover and master their special powers, powers they will need if they have any chance of saving their world from the tyrant Goliath.

When the lion awakens, their world is forever changed...

And here's the first review:

Buffy Andrews has done it again! “The Lion Awakens” is adventurous, mysterious, surreal, intriguing and perfectly crafted. Not to mention, the story line is unique and compelling! As with all of her books, Ms. Andrews drags you into the story within the first few pages and keeps you there until the very end. You will want to know how, who and why, and won’t stop reading until all of the questions are answered. Nothing is predictable, and your imagination will run wild with anticipation. I highly recommend this book, and guarantee you will love it! - Sharon Kirchoff

Sold another middle grade: High Street Dares

I love when I check my email and find unexpected GOOD NEWS. I'm excited to announce my newest middle-grade book, High Street Dares, will be published by MuseItUp Publishing.  This is the same team that will publish "Freaky Frank" (summer 2014) and "Will, Middle Name Trouble" (Fall 2014).

I'm thrilled that MuseItUp will be publishing all three of my middle-grades.

In other author news, I will be doing a very special Author Tea at The Yorktowne Hotel 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. April 27. I hope to see you there. We'll talk about "The Moment Keeper," which has been an Amazon best-seller. The book has more than 35 5-star reviews and continues to do well. A scene in the book was based on The Yorktowne, a beautiful historic hotel that I've always admired. For reservations to the tea, call, 717-848-1111.

Learn how to cherish rare time with your family

My youngest son was home on spring break recently and we had a rare opportunity to go out to dinner.
Now that we’re all busy adults with crazy schedules, it’s not always easy to get the family together.
Sitting across from my sons, I was reminded of the fine young men they have become.

These are the same boys who put rubber snakes in our bed and thought the floor was their personal wrestling ring.
Time has a way of blurring our memories, but there are some that are as clear and bright as a cloudless blue sky on a crisp spring day.
Rocking them to sleep while singing a soft lullaby.
Putting Power Ranger Band-Aids on boo-boos (even when they were nothing more than scratches).
Making a SpongeBob SquarePants costume for the school parade.
Clutching my heart as they learned to drive.
With age comes wisdom, and what I’ve come to realize is that life’s wrinkles have a way of working themselves out.

Join me at Yorktowne Hotel for author tea

Join me at Yorktowne Hotel  for a Meet the Author tea 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. April 27. The event includes full tea service. This is a great event to get a group together to attend. I'll talk about my writing, what inspires me, how much of it comes from "real" life, and so much more.

Specifically, we'll talk about "The Moment Keeper," which includes a scene based on The Yorktowne Hotel. I'll talk about that scene and the why behind it. Plus, you get the chance to ask me questions. I hope to have my newest book, "The Lion Awakens," available for purchase.

What I've been up to...

Sorry I've been a little scarce around this neck of the woods lately. I've been swamped with work. Here's a quick rundown of what I've been doing:

1. Finished edits to my middle-grade book, "Will, Middle Name Trouble," which will be out in the fall.

2. Finished edits to my young adult book, "The Lion Awakens," which will be out the end of March.

3. Prepared for some book club discussions. One club has read all of the books ("The Moment Keeper," "The Christmas Violin," "The Yearbook Series: Gina and Mike" and "The Yearbook Series: Sue and Tom") so I'm prepared to discuss those titles and answer any questions they might have.

4. Making plans for a Sunday tea at The Yorktowne Hotel in which I will read from and discuss "The Moment Keeper."

5. Preparing for a fellowship at DePauw University, where I'll be at the beginning of April.

6. Working on book 3 in "The Yearbook Series" (Tess and Jeremy). I hope to finish this book by the end of the week.

In addition to my personal writing, I'm going through a major restructuring at work. I'm anxious to see how it all plays out.

Check back for more updates. I hope you have a fantastic Monday!
