Quote of the day

"Don't cast sidelong glances, and compare yourself to others among your peers! (Writing is not a race. No one really "wins." The satisfaction is in the effort, and rarely in the consequent rewards, if there are any.)" --Joyce Carol Oates

  1. Such a meaningful quote. Whenever I read blog posts by published writers who seem to have crossed to the other side, yet still have their insecure moments and struggles, I remember it never ends. It needs to be about the journey. Thanks, Buffy!

  2. It's great to remember it's all about the journey. And all of our paths will be different.

  3. A splendid quote, once again! Thanks, Buffy!
It's a good thing for all of us to keep in mind, lest we not remember to enjoy the fun along the way.

  4. Oh, this is great advice. But hard, hard, hard to follow. :\

    Happy Weekend, Buffy!

  5. Hey girlfriends, I so agree. I need to keep reminding myself of this. We've got to find satisfaction in the journey. It makes getting to the top of that mountain that much sweeter. Have a super weekend all of you.

  6. Writing that perfect story has to be about writing it for yourself...if you are lucky and connected enough to get it in the hands of children then it is a huge bonus. The satisfaction has to come from within. I think that's why the writing community is so open and willing to help each other...cause it's not a competition. If you get a chance to help someone reach their dreams you've done something special and that really is a special feeling. (I'm all hearts, hugs and sparkles... :)

Have a safe holiday weekend, Buffy! I hope you get some golf in. :)
